Beethoven is the composer of pattern and rythm. His 7th symphony, named by Wagner the “apotheosis of the dance”, mixes his outstanding vitality and his inner poetry. Stravinsky’s musical mechanism is as strong as Beethoven’s. It hides an hyper-sensitivity behind the impartiality of his language. To perform the Rite of Spring without a conductor was the bold gamble taken by Les Dissonances for the opening of the 2017-2018 season. Challenge accepted… Revisiting the Rite!
